Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper

Even after a century from the brutal crimes, Jack the Ripper is a popular figure and you expect big things from a game that is bearing his name. Thrown into the world of the best detective, Sherlock Holmes, and so the expectations grow even more.

However, the adventure from Frogwares with the detective in the main role seems pretty generic. Although Jack’s crime scenes are investigated very thoroughly by Holmes, in this game there are many missions that ruin the atmosphere that could have been created if it would had more originality. It is hard to get involved into the story if you are continually interrupted by ordinary missions - play interesting missions.

That being said here are the strengths of this game: the genius story of Jack the Ripper who terrorized London in the 1880’s. As in reality Jack kills five prostitutes is a brutally way, taking body parts as trophies before he disappears in thick fog in London. The only addition in this game is the fictional Sherlock Holmes and his friend Dr. Watson who decide to get involved after reading about the first murder in the newspaper. From now on you control both of them, but in laps, once Sherlock, then Watson, in order to stop the crimes and to identify Jack - see new game formula.

The two appear to investigate every crime, so you get to see nearly all the remains left behind by Jack. Don’t worry, this is not so scary because the corpses are replaced by animated dolls and barely have the fingerprint of the killer. Each scene makes you reconstruct what happened, taking every evidence and making conclusions.

But this game was built too much on conventional adventures and typical missions. Between murders, Holmes and Watson go after suspects and keep in touch with police investigations. Characters created excellent, with good voices that seem to bring them to life create a realistic atmosphere in the game. But all these does not help at all since the missions are ordinary like doing different services in order for people to help you. Puzzles are also typical for an adventure, collect notes, restore items and more.

Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper is not a perfect game, as you can see it is a game that has some issues, but if you like amazing story and the characters then this is a must game to play.
